Timidity sounds tantalizingly good. Can't hear a sausage as yet. Have spent 5 hours trying to get it to work. It's the most challenging program I've come across so far in my computer forays. Why is it so hard!?? Couln't there be a version that just works straight off, without having to have an IQ off the scale to set it up?

I don't know what your setup problem is. You need to provide information about what is happening if you want additional help.
Thousands have installed it without any problems.
I just installed the default version again to test it out and it was working without any modifications at all in about 2 minutes.

I also have problem. I configured timidity++ with Fluid3 soundfont and it does play well only midi files recognised as XG the GM o GS midi file plays only drums. Surely there is a bug in interpreting the midi file since Van Basco Midi player plays all file well. Any hints? (i can send two midi file the one that play correct (XG) and the other that doesn't play (GS))
Tnx, Fabio.

Sorry, but I have very little experience with the Fluid soundfont. Is there a reason you cannot use another good foundfont? Personally, I always thought fluid is too large and there are other very good sf2 banks a lot smaller, like: www.midi2mp3.com/sf2/merlin_vienna.sfArk
